Filter Friday on Google+

Capturing simple moments and enhancing them to bring out details to create a better image, is very rewarding. Today, we have powerful digital tools available on our mobile devices and desktop, that enable us to share our vision.

In the image below, I used Snapseed to focus the viewer’s attention on the little girl’s hand and beads. I am able to do this by using the Center Focus filter and using Blur to soften the image, yet leave the beads and hand in focus. I also added Vignette to slightly darken the edges around the image and Center Brightness to lighten the of interest. By moving the center point around on my image, I can decide where I want these effects to be added to my image.

Enhancements do not have to be major manipulations to your photo. In fact, making small, subtle adjustments might be all that you need to pull your viewer’s eye into your image and keep them there for awhile!

Discovering how you can focus in on the details after the shot is exciting and rewarding.

After all, sometimes, it’s all about the details.

Share an image on Google+ and tell us what filters you used, either a digital or glass filter or both, and tag your image #filterfriday curated by +Laurie Rubin. We’d love to see how filters have helped to enhance your images!
